Eligibility and Qualifications:
To be considered for the Medical Coder position at Gargash Hospital, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of inpatient coding experience in a hospital setting is required.
- UAE experience is preferred: Candidates with prior experience in the United Arab Emirates healthcare system will have an advantage, demonstrating familiarity with local regulations and practices.
- Valid Coding Certification: Applicants must possess a valid coding certification from recognized bodies such as:
- AHIMA (CCS): Certified Coding Specialist from the American Health Information Management Association.
- AAPC (CIC/CRC/CPC): Certified Inpatient Coder, Certified Risk Adjustment Coder, or Certified Professional Coder from the American Academy of Professional Coders.
- Or equivalent certification: Other internationally recognized and equivalent coding certifications may also be accepted.
- Strong Understanding of Coding Systems: Proficiency and a strong understanding of various coding systems are essential, including:
- ICD-10-CM: International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (for diagnosis coding).
- ICD-10-PCS: International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Procedure Coding System (for inpatient procedure coding).
- MS-DRG/IR-DRG systems: Knowledge of Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups and International Refined Diagnosis Related Groups for accurate reimbursement.
- DHA Coding Rules: A thorough understanding and adherence to Dubai Health Authority (DHA) coding rules and guidelines are mandatory for compliance within the UAE healthcare landscape.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
- Health Information Management
- Life Sciences
- Nursing
- Or a closely related field.
