Government Medical College students benefit; Total 87 castes included

The state government is preparing to give a big fee concession to OBC and MBC students in government medical colleges. The annual tuition fees for both categories of students will be completely waived. This relaxation will be given to those students of OBC and MBC category who fall in the non-creamy layer category. OBC includes 82 castes including Jat, Kumawat, Mali, Yadav, Charan while MBC includes 5 castes including Gurjar, Rabari, Banjara.

If the annual income of a family is less than Rs 8 lakh, then that family will be placed in the category of non-creamy layer. That is, students from families with an income of less than 8 lakhs will get the benefit of tuition fee waiver. If the annual income of a family is more than Rs 8 lakh, then that family will be placed in the creamy layer category. Students from such families will not get the benefit of fee waiver.

The Medical Education Department has made complete preparations to give fee waiver to OBC and MBC students. The fee waiver proposal has been sent to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

T. Ravikant, Principal Secretary, Medical Education Department, says that after the approval of the CM, it will be placed in the cabinet meeting. On the other hand, the officers of the department say that this proposal has been prepared only on the instructions of the CMO. It is likely to be approved soon.

Discount will be available in 6 government medical colleges

The government medical colleges in which OBC and MBC students are going to get exemption, include 6 government medical colleges. These include SMS Medical College in Jaipur, Dr. Sampurnanand Medical College in Jodhpur, Sardar Patel Medical College in Bikaner, Government Medical College in Kota, JLN Medical College in Ajmer and RNT Medical College in Udaipur.

OBC and MBC class non-creamy layer students studying in these medical colleges will get tuition fee waiver of Rs 60,800 annually

The state government had recently fixed the fees for government seats in government medical colleges and colleges running under the Rajasthan Medical Education Society at the same level.

Accordingly, the tuition fee was fixed at Rs 60,800. In such a situation, it is certain that as soon as the cabinet approves the proposal of the Medical Education Department, the students of OBC-MBC will start getting exemption in tuition fees.

SC-ST, EWS and women already exempted

The government is already giving tuition fee waiver to SC-ST, EWS and girls students in government medical colleges.

Girls students and students of SC-ST category were getting this exemption from a long time ago, but ever since the formation of new category of EWS, the government has started giving exemption in tuition fees to this class in MBBS studies from September 30 last year. Had given.

OBC-MBC class had been demanding for a long time

OBC and MBC classes were also demanding fee exemption for a long time due to SC-ST class getting fee exemption. This demand intensified as soon as the government announced exemption to EWS on 30 September.

On the other hand, Vijay Bainsla, president of Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, told Bhaskar that when other classes are being given exemption in fees, then the OBC-MBC class should also get exemption. He told that when Rahul Gandhi’s yatra was about to enter Rajasthan, we had warned about various demands.

At that time, we also demanded that MBC and OBC students should get exemption in MBBS tuition fees. We also had a written agreement with the government on this. Bainsla said that due to our demand OBC students will also get benefited.
